Areas of support
Self-Esteem & Body Image
Learning to feel enough as you are.
The way we see ourselves is often shaped by our experiences, relationships and the messages we receive from the world around us. Over time, these messages can affect our confidence, self-worth and sense of belonging.
Understanding self-worth
Many people come to counselling carrying a deep sense that they are somehow not enough, too much, or falling short of expectations. These beliefs can develop over many years and often become so familiar that they are accepted as fact.
Together, we can begin to explore where these beliefs have come from, how they continue to affect your life, and whether there may be a kinder and more compassionate way of relating to yourself.
Areas we may explore
Building a more compassionate relationship with yourself
Self-criticism
Exploring the internal voice that judges, criticises or tells you that you are not good enough.
Confidence
Understanding the experiences that have shaped your confidence and developing greater trust in yourself.
Body image
Exploring your relationship with your body and the impact of societal expectations and ideals.
Identity
Developing a stronger sense of who you are beyond the expectations placed upon you by others.
Belonging
Working with feelings of being different, left out, or never quite fitting in.
Self-compassion
Learning to respond to yourself with kindness, understanding and care.
Body image and self-acceptance
Our bodies and the beliefs we hold about them can create significant distress. Part of my work is to promote a body-positive approach that focuses on holistic wellbeing and celebrates beauty in diversity.
Feelings about our bodies are often complex and deeply rooted. They can be shaped by family experiences, relationships, social expectations and cultural messages that tell us how we should look, behave or present ourselves.
Together, we can begin to unpick these messages, challenge unhelpful ideals and explore what it might mean to develop a more accepting and compassionate relationship with yourself. Ultimately, our work is about strengthening self-worth and supporting a belief that you are enough exactly as you are.
Taking the next step
You are more than the way you see yourself today
Counselling can offer a supportive space to explore self-esteem, body image and identity with curiosity, compassion and care.
